SAMPLE EXPERIENCE · FOR ADVISORS & RIA FIRMS

One client question.
Three paths to explore.

See how an advisor-led retirement conversation could unfold with RetireLuma—from understanding the household’s priorities to identifying the decisions that need a closer look.

Illustrative concept. This fictional case shows the experience we’re designing. It is not a working software demo, a calculated financial plan, or a client success story.

THE CLIENT CONVERSATION

Meet Alex and Jordan.

Alex is 60 and works full-time. Jordan is 59 and works part-time. They want more time together and flexibility to visit family. Their initial plan is for Alex to retire at 65, but they are curious about leaving full-time work at 62.

THE QUESTION

“Could we retire sooner?”

They want to understand the choices involved before committing to a new retirement date.

THE PRIORITIES

Time, flexibility, and confidence.

They want to protect everyday spending while making room for travel and family commitments.

THE ADVISOR’S STARTING POINT

Clarify what is known.

Review income, savings, expected spending, benefits, coverage, and the assumptions that still need validation.

THE SCENARIO DISCUSSION

Compare the questions.
Then do the analysis.

For this example, the advisor frames three possible paths. The table is a discussion guide—not a comparison of modeled outcomes. None of these paths has been determined to be feasible or preferable.

Discussion areaA · Retire at 65B · Retire at 62C · Phase into retirement
Work and retirementContinue full-time work until 65.Retire from full-time work at 62.Shift to part-time work at 62; stop at 65.
Spending prioritiesEstablish the household’s baseline budget.Check whether the same budget still reflects their goals.Separate work-related costs from retirement spending.
Income questionsConfirm savings contributions and expected income.Identify how the years after leaving work would be funded.Confirm expected part-time earnings and how reliable they are.
Healthcare questionsConfirm current coverage and anticipated transitions.Investigate coverage after leaving the employer.Check whether part-time work includes coverage.
Items to hold consistentUse the same agreed assumptions for comparison.Keep shared assumptions consistent; identify changes.Show which assumptions differ from the baseline.

Before any meaningful calculation, the advisor would need validated household data and explicit assumptions about spending, taxes, inflation, returns, longevity, and benefits. Those inputs and calculations are not included in this example.

THE ADVISOR REVIEW

Make the assumptions part of the conversation.

CONFIRM

Establish a reliable starting point.

Validate the household’s accounts, income expectations, spending, and coverage information. Identify estimates separately from confirmed facts.

EXPLAIN

Show what changes between paths.

Discuss the consequences that need analysis and the uncertainties that could affect each scenario. Avoid treating a preferred retirement date as a proven outcome.

INVOLVE

Bring the client’s priorities back in.

Ask which tradeoffs Alex and Jordan would consider, what worries them, and what they want to understand before deciding.

THE NEXT-MEETING AGENDA

End with a focused set of next steps.

In this fictional review, the advisor and household could agree to gather the information needed for a meaningful comparison:

CLIENT FOLLOW-UP

Confirm the household picture.

Refine the spending estimate and obtain current income, account, benefit, and coverage information.

ADVISOR FOLLOW-UP

Prepare the analysis.

Validate inputs, document the assumptions, and evaluate the alternatives using an appropriate planning process.

JOINT REVIEW

Discuss the tradeoffs.

Review the analysis together and identify tax, legal, or coverage questions that need additional professional input.

No retirement recommendation or financial result is implied by this example.

The product vision:
clearer conversations, led by you.
